It’s far from the real thing but plenty of Brazilian flair was on show as the Reds’ summer signing took part in training.
Much has been made of Roberto Firmino’s big-money move to Liverpool this summer – naturally.
The Brazilian is not only now expected to deliver handsomely because of his £29 million (fee as reported by the BBC among others) valuation but also the fact he will be working alongside another big-money signing in Christian Benteke – and fellow countryman and playmaker Philippe Coutinho.
Fear not, though, as Liverpool’s new signing showed his first flash of magic at Melwood with a delicious rabona pass (see above).
It’s far from a competitive environment and far from a rabona goal – we can’t even see if the pass made it to the target before the video cuts off. But it’s a start and certainly a sign of what could be to come from Firmino. Firmino’s former scout at Hoffenheim, meanwhile, is confident he can succeed with Liverpool, describing the Brazilian as a ‘special player,’ according to Sky Sports.
Indeed, it’s only pre-season and the tricks are already coming out from the 23-year-old; what could he be willing to attempt when fully fit and on top form?
