Queens Park Rangers nearly denied Manchester City the title on the final day of the 2011/12 Premier League season.
While Queens Park Rangers may have had big plans for their most recent couple of stints in the Premier League, the most notable moment involving the Hoops during those spells came on the final day of 2011/12 season when they came so close to denying Manchester City the title.
2-1 up against City in stoppage-time, Rangers – who went into the final day in danger of being relegated – were on the verge of helping Manchester United secure the title.
But goals from Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero – the latter arguably the most famous goal of the Premier League era – turned the game around in sensational fashion, leading to Roberto Mancini’s men lifting their first title since 1968.
But while City’s players established themselves as legends that day, what became of the QPR side that were dramatically beaten? Here, HITC Sport has taken a look at the XI that started that day…
Paddy Kenny
Paddy Kenny may have secured a spot in Premier League folklore by being beaten by Aguero, but he would never play for QPR again, joining Leeds that summer. After 76 appearances there, he would go on to play four more times across spells with six clubs. He is currently unattached, though the 39-year-old is yet to actually retire.
QPR’s Nedum Onuoha remains at the club
Nedum Onuoha
Nedum Onuoha is the only player from that QPR side to still be at Loftus Road having not left at any stage since. He joined from Manchester City in the months before the famous game, and is now club captain.
Anton Ferdinand
Anton Ferdinand enjoyed a couple of spells in Turkey and a had deal to move to Thailand – though the move to the latter seemed to fall through before he made an appearance. After a spell with Reading, he now plays for Southend United.
Clint Hill
The centre-back remained with the Hoops until 2016, when he decided to join Rangers. He may have been one of the Gers’ best players this past season, but that was not enough to earn him a new contract.

Taye Taiwo
Taye Taiwo was on loan from AC Milan in 2012, though did not make a permanent switch. He has since played in Ukraine, Turkey, Finland and Switzerland.
Shaun Wright-Phillips
Shaun Wright-Phillips had left City for QPR one year before the famous game. He stayed at Loftus Road until 2015, subsequently joining his brother Bradley at New York Red Bulls before moving to Phoenix Rising where he has been reunited with former Chelsea teammate Didier Drogba.
Joey Barton
Joey Barton would not finish the game against City, after being sent off in incredible circumstances. He would spend the following season on loan at Marseille and leave for Burnley in 2015. He joined Rangers for a brief but still fairly eventful spell in 2016 before swiftly rejoining the Clarets after being released at Ibrox. He has been released by Burnley and is now set to serve an FA ban.

Shaun Derry
Shaun Derry would leave QPR in 2013, effectively signalling the end of his playing career. He spent a couple of years as Notts County boss, and has been at Cambridge since 2015.
Jamie Mackie
Like Onuoha, Jamie Mackie is still with QPR, but did leave to play for Nottingham Forest and Reading before returning to Loftus Road in 2015.
Djibril Cisse
Djibril Cisse would leave QPR in 2013, playing in Russia, France and the French territory of Reunion before retiring in 2015.
Bobby Zamora
Bobby Zamora scored the play-off final winner for QPR in 2014. He returned to former club Brighton in 2015 before hanging up his boots in 2016.
