Newcastle United fans have been speaking to HITC Sport about the future of the club.
After a shockingly disappointing relegation to the Championship at the end of last season, Newcastle United fans are understandably delighted to have seen their club bounce back to the top flight at the first time of asking.
With Champions League winning manager Rafa Benitez secured to a new contract, the Magpies brought in a host of new signings including Isaac Hayden, Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle.

Though Newcastle United haven’t run away with the league as some expected, the club have had an excellent season, and promotion has never really looked in doubt. Under Benitez’s leadership, the club are looking to be going in the right direction, and it will be interesting to see what they can achieve next season.

“The Champions League final” said one optimistic Newcastle United fan, who may be getting slightly carried away by the club’s recent success. Another fan suggested Newcastle United could be in the “top five” by that time, and another added “if we develop and carry on the way we are, I could see us being in the top five.”
“If Ashley leaves I think we could make a good go of it” added another Newcastle United fan, whereas another believed that the club would be “back in Europe” by that time, “like we used to be in the 90s and the 00s.”
“Probably nailed on Europa League” said another optimistic fan. Compared to how Newcastle United fans were feeling 12 months ago, the Magpies look to be on the way back to the glory days . . . according to their fans, at least!
