West Ham United fans will be shocked by the ability on show from one of their much-maligned summer signings in a training ground video.
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic
Slaven Bilic made 13 signings over the summer and it is fair to say none of them have made a positive impact so far.
West Ham have suffered their worst start to a season with five defeats from their opening seven games and sit in the relegation zone with just four points from a possible 21.
Dumped out of Europe and with negative headlines dominating their much-heralded Olympic Stadium move, dark clouds are starting to gather around East London.
Havard Nordtveit
Of Bilic’s 13 summer captures, his first, the signing of Norweigan Havard Nordtveit from Borussia Monchengladbach, caught the eye for a number of reasons.
Firstly he came on a free and was seen as a potential steal as well as the ideal and versatile replacement for Alex Song.
Having spent time with Arsenal before his move to Germany, Nordtveit was just what the Hammers needed in midfield.
Of course it was a bonus he could also operate at centre back and right back.
What was all the fuss about?
Unfortunately, though, he has been woeful so far leaving West Ham fans totally underwhelmed by his performances.
Seemingly lacking the kind of pace and strength required to survive in the Premier League, Nordtveit will surely find himself a squad player at best once West Ham have a fully fit squad.
So it may come as a surprise to Hammers fans to see a video that emerged from the club’s training ground this week ahead of the crunch London derby against Crystal Palace.
Skill Payet would be proud of
The short clip, which was posted on the club’s official Twitter account, showed Nordtveit delicately dinking the ball over the goalkeeper to score an outrageous effort teammate Dimitri Payet would have been proud of.
“Cheeky from Nordtveit,” West Ham posted on Twitter.
