Liverpool’s defensive vulnerabilities have plagued them all season and they had never been more evident then on Tuesday night against Sevilla in the Champions League.

The Reds stormed into a 3-0 lead by half time at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, only to then buckle under the pressure of the Sevilla comeback and draw the match 3-3.

It is the second time this season that Jurgen Klopp’s side have scored three and not won the match, after another 3-3 draw with Watford on the opening weekend of the season.

The reaction of Mohamed Salah, who had been substituted late on, and Daniel Sturridge on the Liverpool bench to Guido Pizarro’s stoppage-time equaliser tells a story of continued frustration.

Sturridge has his head in his hands in disbelief that Liverpool’s defending undid all of the good work of the attackers, while Salah vents his anger by banging his boots on the floor.

The Egyptian has been an outstanding signing for Liverpool, and must be a little annoyed that his 14 goals in 19 matches have not counted for more because of poor defending.
