With the January transfer window approaching, who do Middlesbrough fans have their eye on as they look to bolster their squad?
Despite a decent start to their first season back in the Premier League under Aitor Karanka, some Middlesbrough fans are beginning to grow concerned over the number of goals that the Boro are scoring. Hitting the back of the net just 16 times so far this season, Boro are struggling to break down Premier League defences, and this could be down to a number of reasons.
Middlesbrough main attacking threat, Spaniard Alvaro Negredo, struggled early on to really get going in a red shirt. As the slower but stronger type, Negredo is the type of striker who has to wait and wait for the right chance, and with Boro’s wide men and creative midfielders not forcing enough chances, these came come few and far between. Middlesbrough’s other attacking options up front, such as big money signing Jordan Rhodes and David Nugent, have failed to impress so far this season, with the former now likely to leave the club.
With this in mind, HITC Sport asked Middlesbrough fans who they thought their club should bring in over January to start scoring the goals for the Boro.
Alvaro Negredo of Middlesbrough
One Middlesbrough fan suggested bringing in Liverpool striker Danny Ings, despite the fact that the striker would head straight on to Boro’s injury list, rather than their first team. Another Middlesbrough fans suggested turning to Arsenal pair Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott, who have both found themselves in and out of the Arsenal team this season. One Middlesbrough fan also suggested Antoine Griezmann, though this might be a little bit of a pipe dream. Still, with the millions and millions of the Premier League, who knows what could happen in January?
