Former Middlesbrough manager and captain Gareth Southgate looks set to be named England manager.

After taking over as interim manager when Sam Allardyce was sacked as England manager, Gareth Southgate looks to be on the brink of being put in charge permanently of the Three Lions.
The Telegraph have reported that the former Under-21s manager is to be confirmed as the new England senior squad boss following a three hour interview.
The former centre back does not have a lot of experience as a manager, so we decided to speak to the fans who witnessed his only managerial exploits: those at Middlesbrough.
The mood towards Southgate was fairly mixed. Some fans still hold their former captain in high regard after he captained Middlesbrough to the Carling Cup back in 2004, while others did not think he was up to the job when he became manager at the Riverside.
There is one question that every fan of England is asking when it comes to Southgate’s potential appointment, and that is ‘who else could we get?’.

While he may not have the same managerial pedigree as some former England managers, Southgate has shown through his work with the Under-21s that he deserves a shot with the senior side.
No one saw Southgate as a future England manager when his Middlesbrough side were relegated in 2009, but he could be the man to lead England to the World Cup in 2018.
