West Ham United target Maxi Goemz bagged another goal on Wednesday night.

Celta Vigo travelled to Espanyol on Wednesday night, and managed to avoid defeat as their recent upturn in form continued.
The Galicians had lost five games in six before beating Villarreal 3-2, and it’s now one defeat in six as they show signs of life to avoid the drop.
Wednesday’s trip to Espanyol was a tricky test, and they did fall behind as Chinese striker Wu Lei bagged an acrobatic opener, his second La Liga goal.
Celta did grab a point though, with striker Maxi Gomez tucking home a second half equaliser, continuing his fine form as it’s now three goals in his last six outings.
Celta are now two points clear of relegation and hitting form at the right time, whereas Girona are on a remarkable losing run, and even Real Valladolid and Villarreal are in worse form as the battle to avoid the drop continues.
That has an impact on Gomez’s future. The London Evening Standard noted that West Ham wanted Gomez for £43.5million in January, but had shelved the deal until the summer.
Then, as reported by The Sun, it emerged that Gomez’s release clause would halve if Celta suffered relegation, leaving West Ham worried that they would miss out if he became too cheap.
Gomez now appears to be firing Celta to safety, meaning West Ham would be looking at that full £43.5million fee if they want Gomez this summer – and it remains to be seen whether they can pay that kind of money.
