After signing for Manchester United in 2014, many predicted a big future for England left-back Luke Shaw. After impressing during his time under the now Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettinho at Southampton, the young defender made the move to one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.
And despite a series of injuries, Luke Shaw looked excellent during his time under Dutch manager, Louis van Gaal. Fast, strong and as able going forward as he was at cutting out opposition attacks, the future for the left-back was looking bright.
However, under Jose Mourinho, the former Southampton defender has seriously fallen out of favour, to the point where many are expecting the 21-year-old to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season. But what’s gone wrong for Luke Shaw? Has Mourinho been too harsh? Manchester United fans give us their views…

Asked for their opinions of Jose Mourinho’s treatment of Luke Shaw, one Manchester United fan said: “I don’t like it.” Another said “It’s one of two things. Is it Jose Mourinho raising and lifting the bar at Manchester United, or is it Jose Mourinho yet again showing that he does not know how to handle young players?”
The decision to axe and alienate Shaw really seems to be splitting Manchester United fans, with another adding “I think it’ll demotivate him because everybody knows that he needs extra tuition.” Another said “Everyone’s saying he’s a ruthless manager but Moyes was a ruthless manager. Louis van Gaal was kind of, but Mourinho is the manager we need right now.”
“I love Luke Shaw, I think you should be there [in the side] more often” said another Manchester United fan. At just 21-years-old, is time really up for Luke Shaw at Old Trafford?
