Mario Balotelli, Vincent Kompany and Edin Dzeko were among the goals for their respective nations in the European section of FIFA World Cup qualifying.
Manchester City had three goalscorer’s in the European section of FIFA’s World Cup qualifying last night for Belgium, Italy and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Belgian captain Vincent Kompany scored a rifled effort after tricky footwork in the Scotland box to give the Red Devil’s an unassailable lead against the Tartan Army. Aston Villa striker Cristian Benteke had already given Belgium a one nil advantage but Kompany’s effort secured another three points for the much fancied side and essentially knocked Scotland out of contention for qualification.
Mario Balotelli had the final say over Wolfsburg defender Simon Kjaer. The blonde centre-half had claimed he would tame Balotelli in the meeting between the Azzurri and Denmark but Balotelli put the gloss on a 3-1 victory after breaking the offside trap and poked the ball past the flailing Stephan Andersen.
And finally no round-up of European international football would be complete without a goal from Bosnia’s talismanic striker Edin Dzeko. He grabbed one of three goals in the comfortable win over Lithuania to add to his impressive recent goals against Latvia, Liechtenstein and Mexico.
Can they carry their form back to The Etihad?
