When Gabriel Jesus returns from a broken foot, what will that mean for Sergio Aguero’s future?
It’s not been quite the season many Manchester City fans expected this year, as supporters wait to judge former Barcelona and Bayern Munich man, Pep Guardiola, on his first campaign in charge. Sat in 2nd place, Manchester City are still in with a shot at the title this season. However, with eight points between them and Chelsea, City fans will be ruing the clubs inconsistent form.
One thing that has brought a smile to Manchester City fan’s faces though, is the emergence of Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus. After finally joining in January from Palmeiras, the young Brazilian has already scored three goals for the club in just four appearances, before picking up a season-shattering injury. During his playing time, Jesus was keeping Manchester City stalwart Sergio Aguero out of the team, with some suggesting that Pep doesn’t favour the Argentine striker.
So, when Jesus returns, could this spell the end for Aguero at City? How could Pep keep both happy or should he pick one player to get behind? HITC Sport spoke to Manchester City fans to get their views and opinions…
Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus
“Gabriel Jesus because he’s younger” said one Manchester City fan, who didn’t need long to think about his answer. Another added: “At the moment you’ve got to look to the future, so it’s got to be Jesus.”
Other Manchester City fans were sticking by Aguero though; a man who has scored 113 goals for the club. “He knows the Prem, he knows how we play, and he’s got a proven record” added one Manchester City fan.
“He’s done it year in, year out” added another Manchester City supporter, but not all were convinced on the Argentine, with some City fans suggesting the striker looked “lethargic” at times, and as if he “didn’t want to be there.”
Interesting times ahead for Manchester City fans, as Pep Guardiola looks to manage two of the most exciting forwards in the Premier League!
