Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain scored in a 1-1 draw with Atalanta, but he also missed his second penalty of the season.
Gonzalo Higuain is said to be a target for Liverpool to replace Mario Balotelli and the game against Atalanta was his roller coaster season in microcosm.
Higuain was lethal last season for Napoli and saw his value rocket with the club’s owner Aurelio De Laurentiis suggesting any buyer would have to meet his release clause of around £80 million.
On an evening of ups and downs, Higuain netted for Napoli in the 85th minute to bring them back to 1-1 at Atalanta, but there was still time for him to see a penalty saved for the second time this year.
The miss may end up proving costly as Napoli lost further ground on Serie A’s frontrunners and the pressure is growing at the Stadio San Paolo.
However, at least, unlike Balotelli, Higuain is starting to find the net and his tally of four goals in the league and two in the Europa League looks pretty respectable.
