Leeds United’s Lewie Coyle only joined the League One side a few days ago.

It’s only been three days since Lewie Coyle left Leeds United to join Fleetwood Town on loan.

But the 21-year-old defender is already winning hearts since joining up with Uwe Rosler’s side.

Coyle, who signed a three-year contract extension at Leeds before moving, was the hero as Fleetwood kicked off their pre-season preparations with a 1-0 win over Queen of the South.

The talented right-back scored the winner with a superbly-struck volley from the edge of the box – and Leeds fans were delighted for their academy product.

Coyle is certainly a fine prospect and long term his future has to be at Elland Road.

At 21, perhaps he is at an age where he could be playing Championship football, but if Thomas Christiansen does not envisage a big role for him at Leeds this season then of course a season in League One will do him no harm.

Christiansen already has Luke Ayling and Gaetano Berardi as right-back options, while Vurnon Anita, who joined following his release from Newcastle United this summer, can also operate there so a move made sense for the youngster.
