HITC Sport have been speaking to Leeds United fans about their Championship rivals.
Sat in fourth on 61 points, Leeds United look set to secure themselves a play-off spot during Garry Monk’s first season in charge at Elland Road. The Whites, who recently came away as 1-0 winners against promotion rivals Sheffield Wednesday, have been in fine form this season, and could well return to the Premier League for the first time in 13 years.
Despite their lull in English football’s lower divisons, Leeds United are still widely regarded to be one of the biggest club’s in the country. The three time First Division winner, who were at one point regarded the best side in England under Don Revie, have a rich history, and arguably should rightly be in the top division considering the size of the club.
But are they the biggest team in the Championship? Plenty of teams have history, and there are club’s Leeds United have come up against who have won Champions League trophies, let alone league titles! So, with this in mind, HITC Sport went to meet Leeds United fans to ask them for their views and opinions…

“It’s got to be Leeds United” was the response from many Leeds fans, perhaps not unsurprisingly. The former First Division champions have fallen far since their glory days, but supporters still flock in great numbers to watch their team. “Look at the history of the club!” some Leeds United fans pointed out, when asked exactly what it was that made them the biggest. But how does their history compare to that of Aston Villa? Newcastle United? Or Nottingham Forest?
“They’ve got the best away fans, anywhere” added another Leeds United fan. Whether this makes the club big though, is difficult to say. Other Leeds fans also suggested that there were “Leeds fans everywhere.”
