The England under-21 international scored four on last year’s tour of Asia, but was overlooked by then manager David Moyes when the Premier League season began.
A regular scorer on loan with both Brighton and Birmingham, Lingard did his chances no harm with a clinical strike from the edge of the box against Liverpool in the 88th minute of the International Champions Cup Final.
The goal rounded off a 3-1 win, with goals from Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata helping the Red Devils bounce back from a first half Steven Gerrard penalty.
