Newcastle United will be hoping to pull off a positive result and move themselves further away from the Premier League relegation zone.

Newcastle have posted a video on their Twitter account that should give plenty of supporters a lot of hope heading into this weekend’s clash with Manchester United – as it shows January signing Islam Slimani in training.

Slimani was one of two deadline day signings for the Magpies, with the Leicester City striker following Martin Dubravka through the door by joining on loan for the rest of the season.

However, Magpies fans are still awaiting the first chance to see the Algeria international pull on the famous black and white shirt for the first time, as he missed the trip to Crystal Palace due to a thigh injury, as reported by the Chronicle.

But there appears to be some very encouraging signs heading into the clash with Jose Mourinho’s men, with the club posting a video of training, which includes the striker working with the rest of his new team.

It is undoubtedly a major boost for the Magpies to have Slimani in contention for the game. Newcastle have not scored more than once in a game in any of their last five fixtures, while the last time that they scored more than once in a league game came back in December.

Though Slimani struggled at the King Power Stadium, the Algerian should certainly not be written off making an impact for Rafa Benitez’s side in the coming months, especially as he will have a huge amount of determination to prove a point to his parent club.

And there is arguably no better way to prove a point than to make an impact if he gets the chance to make his Newcastle debut against United this weekend.
