Fulham midfielder Alex Kacaniklic helped Sweden avoid a major embarassment,
21-year-old Alex Kacaniklic scored his first international goal last night, and it could not have come at a more opportune time.
Sweden were facing down the barrel of a humiliating defeat away to the Faroe Islands, after going 1-0 down in the 57th minute.
Fortunately the highly rated Fulham youngster, who only made his international debut in August, popped up eight minutes later to set them back on track.
He was played in beautifully by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and curled his shot low past the home side’s goalkeeper.
Inevitably, Zlatan hit the winner 10 minutes later to grab all three points for the Swedes, but it certainly was a lucky escape.
