Twitter was awash with people saying the system had failed – the referee must not have received his beep because this looked like a bolt on goal for the Dutchman.
In the Sky Soccer Saturday studio they could not believe it – Chris Kamara also suggesting the system had failed.
But then the replays came in that vindicate HawkEye.
Quite literally a millimetre of the ball was clinging on to the goal-line – leaving most observers absolutely dumbfounded.
But a win for technology as the right decision was made after all.
