Clint Dempsey is a sore loser – but at least he isn’t as sore as Mark Bloom was yesterday.
Yesterday saw Jermain Defoe make his debut for new side Toronto FC in Major League Soccer – and as expected he found it a walk in the park.
He bagged both of the Canadian sides goals in the tie against Seattle Sounders in a 2-1 win for Ryan Nelsen’s side.
Toronto appear to have overtaken the Sounders as the big spenders of MLS – and another player who switched Spurs for America was also in the news from the game.
Clint Dempsey scored the Sounders consolation – but the former Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham man made headlines for completely different reasons.
Being 2-0 down after 39 minutes must have gotten to the USMNT international – and he decided to take it out on the, ahem, groin of Toronto defender Mark Bloom.
Sometimes we can appreciate a cheeky niggle in football here and there but I think I can speak for men across the globe when I say OUCH!
Don’t do it again Clint, you definitely wouldn’t like it done to you!
