Could a former Manchester United disappointment playh a part in toppling Manchester City in the Champions League?
While Manchester United were busy preparing for their Champions League clash with Shakhtar, across the Ukrainian-Russia border – CSKA Moscow were already underway in their early kick-off.
CSKA are in Manchester City’s group, looking to bounce back from defeat to Bayern Munich in the first game by taking on Viktoria Plzen – who were demolished by City in the opener.
Plzen took a surprise 1-0 lead, only for Zoran Tosic, formerly of Manchester United, to peg CSKA level.
What happened to Zoran Tosic after leaving Manchester United?
The much heralded Keisuke Honda then put CSKA 2-1 up before a late own goal made it 3-1 and Marek Bakos scored a last minute consolation for the visitors.
The win applies pressure on Manchester City to get a result at Bayern, otherwise their two upcoming clashes with CSKA take on added importance.
