Players from Newcastle United, Leeds United, Huddersfield Town and Brighton and Hove Albion arguably deserved inclusions in the Team of the Year.
While most of the players included in the PFA Championship Team of the Year definitely deserved their inclusions, there were arguably a few selection decisions that prompted a large amount of debate amongst fans.
With that in mind, here is a look at arguably the top five players, including stars from Leeds and Newcastle, who can feel aggrieved about their omissions from the team…
Newcastle United’s Ciaran Clark
Ciaran Clark (Newcastle United)
Jamaal Lascelles may have captained Newcastle’s promotion-winning campaign, but the Magpies supporters could not believe that Ciaran Clark missed out to his teammate. Clark has been a revelation this term.
Pontus Jansson (Leeds United)
Pontus Jansson has taken little time to make himself a cult-hero at Elland Road, proving a key figure in Leeds’ promotion charge throughout the season. Keeping him will be one of the Whites’ main priorities for the summer.

Tommy Smith (Huddersfield Town)
Tommy Smith has been a stalwart of the Huddersfield side that has guaranteed its place in the play-offs. The right-back has actually been one of the team’s most creative players, scoring four goals and contributing 10 assists for the Terriers.
Matt Ritchie (Newcastle United)
Matt Ritchie missed out to a star-studded midfield that included Newcastle teammate Jonjo Shelvey. He has scored 12 goals and added seven assists, proving exactly why the Magpies targeted him last summer.

Glenn Murray (Brighton and Hove Albion)
Leeds’ Chris Wood and Newcastle’s Dwight Gayle were selected up front in the Team of the Year. Glenn Murray has scored the same number of goals as Gayle, so was perhaps unlucky to miss out, especially as he has proved so influential in Brighton’s promotion-winning season.
