Is 7th good enough for the Toffees? Where does the club go from here? Everton fans discuss the club’s progress and position.
After a bitter end to life under former boss, Roberto Martinez, Everton fans were hoping for a quick turnaround under new boss, and former Southampton manager, Ronald Koeman. The Dutchmen had achieved the Saints highest finishing position in the Premier League during his time there, and Toffees fans hoped that he would be able to get the most out of the Blue’s under-performing squad.
But their start so far has been mixed. After struggling for consistency at the start of the season, Everton have approached the new year with a new lease of life, and are now looking to propel themselves up into the European places.
So how do Everton fans feel the season has gone so far? HITC Sport went to ask Toffees fans just that…

Asked if they were happy with their current 7th place position, one Everton fan suggested he was fine with it “considering what we’re working with. If you’d said [at the start of the season] that we’d be in 7th position at this point in the season, I’d probably have taken it.” Some Everton fans also suggested that, though they were happy enough with their current position, they’d like to see the Toffees buy a few more players in the January transfer window in order to push on up the table.
Some other Everton fans suggested that a Champions League place should be their aim for this season. “We’ve got the money” said one Everton fan, “so I can’t see why not…we need at least another centre half and another centre mid, and another striker.” Quite a few players on this Everton fans shopping list!
