With Newcastle and Sunderland taking a break from their north-east rivalry this season, are the Magpies starting to miss the derby?
After stretching their lead at the top of the Championship table to five points, Newcastle United look set to return to the top flight at the first time of asking under new manager Rafa Benitez. As many expected, the Magpies have looked the part this season, and look to be returning to the Premier League as worthy champions.
One thing that will have Newcastle United fans excited is the possibility of a return of the Tyne-Wear derby. Newcastle United v Sunderland games are one of the most hotly anticipated games in the football calendar. However, with Sunderland looking likely to swap divisions with Newcastle United, as they face relegation under David Moyes, Newcastle United fans could well be set to miss out on their favourite fixture next season.
With that in mind, HITC Sport spoke to Newcastle United fans, about whether or not they missed the Tyne-Wear clash.

“No, because we get beat every ******* time” said one Newcastle United fan, when asked if he missed the derby. “I hate the derby. Hate it. The fear of getting beat is too much!” said another Newcastle United fan, who might not have to worry about coming up against Sunderland next season, should the Black Cat’s current form continue.
“I think they’re going to get relegated anyway” added another Newcastle United fan. And why? Because, as one Newcastle United fan added, “Every year they stay up because they get six points off Newcastle!”
