Bastian Schweinsteiger is back in full first-team training at Bayern Munich as of yesterday.
Yesterday we brought you the news that Arsenal fans would not have wanted to hear – as Bayern Munich welcomed back one of their talisman.
Bastian Schweinsteiger is the vice-captain at the Allianz Arena and has been out of action since November after ankle surgery and a subsequent knee problem.
But he was said to be on his way back to full fitness by German media yesterday – and now we can see it for ourselves.
Stadtmagazin Munich 24 have posted a video up on YouTube of the prodigal son returning to action in what looked a highly competitive short-sided game training game.
And he seems to look OK.
He struggles early on with some wayward touches and deep gulps of breath – but he eventually comes into the session. He plays some lovely combination football with Arjen Robben and even bags himself a couple of goals – that seemed to put a smile on his face.
You could argue that Bayern are doing just fine without him – but Arsenal are difficult opposition and having all their best players available is only a bonus for Pep Guardiola.
With about two weeks until the first leg – the likelihood is he will be available, along with the rest of the Bayern superstars.
So Arsenal must hope they don’t pick up any more injuries in the midfield area – or they face being overrun by the Bavarians.
Here is ‘Schweini’ in action…
