Dominic Solanke was the star of the show as England’s under-17 side came from behind to beat Belgium 2-1.
Chelsea youngster Dominic Solanke bagged a brace to save England’s under-17 side from an upset against Belgium at St George’s Park.
The 16-year-old striker showed great touch to produce two neat finishes, which cancelled out an opener goal from Paolino Bertacinni after England were caught out following a ball over the top, with Belgium also mising a penalty.
Solanke has featured regularly for Chelsea’s youth teams this season and has played above his normal age group in both the UEFA Youth League and the under-21 Premier League.
“It’s amazing scoring the winner for your country, against good opposition. Belgium is one of the top nations, so I think it’s a good achievement,” said the teenager after the game.
Take a look at the highlights, including his goals, as John Peacock’s side made a winning start to 2014.
