Now managing their biggest rivals, Aston Villa, Birmingham City fans give their opinions of former boss Steve Bruce.
Losing only one game since he took the helm, Aston Villa fans have done a fairly good job of late of forgetting which side Steve Bruce used to manage. Football is, of course, a results business, and it’s funny how old allegiances can be quickly swept under the rug once a few wins have been brought under the belt.
However, the memory of Steve Bruce’s time at Aston Villa’s arch rivals, Birmingham City, has not been so quickly forgotten by City fans, and so, HITC Sport decided to ask Birmingham City fans how they felt about their old bosses new found glory and their old enemy.

“Are we allowed to swear” was the immediate response from one Birmingham City fan, who was clearly not happy about Steve Bruce’s decision to join Aston Villa. However, some fans were not quite as bitter about the appointment, eager to point out what a “fantastic manager” Steve Bruce still was.
Another fan pointed out that it has been “10 years” since Bruce was at St Andrews, and that, “as you found when City played Villa, there was no stick given to Steve Bruce”. As forgiving as this fan seemed, many Birmingham City fans certainly seemed to disagree with him. “He’s fat, he’s round, he’s taking Villa down, Stevey Bruce, Stevey Bruce!” sang one fan, who is still clearly not happy about the “betrayal”.
