The former Birmingham manager has had an excellent start to his tenure at Villa Park.
Opinions were firmly split when it was announced that Aston Villa, after just sacking manager Roberto Di Matteo, would be turning to former Birmingham City manager, Steve Bruce, for the job of getting the club back into the Premier League. Despite multiple promotions on his CV, some Villa fans believed that the link to their oldest rivals was too much to take, and that the appointment could see a huge split in the faithful Villa support.
With that old rivalry in mind, we decided to ask Aston Villa fans what their opinions were on their new manager.

“If you know anything about football, you know we’re all hypocrites” was the cry from one Villa supporter, who was clearly happy with the appointment of the former Birmingham man. “It was a long time ago, you’ve gotta get over that” suggested another Villa fan.
It appears the 10 year gap has been long enough for Villa fans to forgive Steve Bruce for his former job.
With Villa having gone on a run of underwhelming managers over the last few years, leaving them struggling in the Championship following their relegation last season, it is no surprise that the trusted hands of the former Manchester United captain make him easier to accept than may have first been though – he did take Hull up via the playoffs in May after all.
