Liverpool are thinking of the title while Suso is thinking of survival – and he helped Almeria cling to La Liga life with a winning goal today.
Eventually his first-team playing time diminished, and with the arrival of several direct competitors since January 2013, his opportunities became less and less.
A loan deal therefore seemed likely and Suso himself actually asked to go out on a temporary basis to get regular first team football.
He joined Spanish side Almeria at the start of the season – and has impressed during his time in La Liga.
And today he scored a crucial goal.
Almeria are in a relegation battle at the moment with Real Valladolid, Getafe, Osasuna, Elche and Granada – so every point is crucial.
Today, as his parent club were downed by a fantastic Chelsea performance, he scored a delightful free-kick to earn all three points in a 2-1 win at Espanyol – to keep alive the club’s hopes of survival.
Suso has been linked with moves away from the club next season – with Sevilla said to be keen on a deal – but judging by his match winning performance today Liverpool would be remiss to let him go.
