The German defender has been out of action with a knee injury.
Arsenal are currently in good form. The Gunners look like genuine title contenders this season and are in to the next round of the Champions League following their 3-2 win against Ludogorets Razgrad last night.
Much of the credit toward that good form has been placed at the door of new central defender Shkodran Mustafi.
Arsenal’s Per Mertesacker comes off injured
The German international has proved a good signing for Arsenal since his summer arrival from Valencia and has formed a solid partnership with his defensive partner Laurent Koscielny.
Of course, this has played down the importance of Per Mertesacker’s eventual return to action. The German veteran remains Arsenal’s club captain but is currently out of action with a knee injury.
Now the experienced defender is looking to get back into action for Arsenal as soon as possible, as he highlighted on his official Facebook account this afternoon:
Arsene Wenger will of course welcome back his trusted defender when he has fully recovered from the injury.
But Arsenal fans will not want to see Mustafi and Koscielny’s excellent partnership broken up consequently.
But Mertesacker’s return will no doubt be a big boost to the Gunners changing room when he is fighting fit again.
