Three points clear at the top of the Championship table, Newcastle United are looking like a very good bet for promotion come the end of the season. The Magpies have been in excellent form for the majority of the campaign under Rafa Benitez, and have proven they have what it takes to compete in the Premier League under this new regime.
However, this season has been arguably one of the most fiercly competitive Championships in recent years, and the chasing pack certainly aren’t giving up on catching Newcastle United any time soon. With Brighton and Hove Albion hot on the case, and Huddersfield Town and Leeds United not far behind, are Newcastle United still in with a chance of missing out on automatic promotion?

Most Newcastle United answered the question of concerns over being pulled into the play-offs by bursting into choruses of “We’re Newcastle and we’re going to win the league” which just about answered our question. Confidence is booming around the Newcastle United faithful at the moment, for which they can thank Rafa Benitez. Since the Spaniard’s return, Newcastle United have really found their identity again as a hard to beat, nightmare to play against type of side.
“Nope, no chance, we’re going to come first, Brighton are going to come second” added another Newcastle United fan. Another also said “If we don’t win the league I want to go up in the play-offs.”
