With their recent defeat to Newcastle United leaving them six points above the relegation zone, HITC Sport spoke to Aston Villa fans about the possibility of another relegation.
After their dramatic relegation from the Premier League last season, Aston Villa fans were hoping to turn their club’s fortunes around this season in the Championship, rebuilding under a new ownership group and a new manager. Turning to former Champions League winner Robert Di Matteo, many Villa fans felt they might be set to come straight back to the top flight.
But things have gone from bad to worse. After letting Di Matteo go after a run of poor performances, Villa turned to former Hull City manager and Championship veteran, Steve Bruce. However, results haven’t turned around at all, and the club are now hovering just 6 points above the relegation zone. Could this Champions League winning club be on the verge of a second relegation to League One?
With this in mind, HITC Sport spoke to Aston Villa fans at their chances of survival…

“It’s not where we wanted to be” said one Aston Villa fan, who was somewhat lost for words at the plight of his club over the last few years. “There’s too many new players coming in at once, and they’re all in the team, and they’re just not gelling! They don’t even know each others names for a start!” added another angry Aston Villa fan.
“You can’t expect a team of complete strangers to come together and get promotion on the first try” added another Villa fan. “We’ll be fine…honestly!” added one other Villa supporter, who was surprisingly upbeat about the whole situation.
“The more important thing for us is that we’ve only won two games away in two years” lambasted another Villa fan, who felt he had put his finger right on the problem. That kind of shocking record is what you would expect from a team facing relegation though, right?
