The West Ham summer signing netted with a fine strike.
Michail Antonio staked his claim for a first-team place at West Ham United this weekend with a beautiful finish during training with the Hammers on Thursday afternoon – as can be seen in the above video.
It wasn’t the most long-distance of strikes but it proves Antonio is looking sharp.
The problem for the 25-year-old, however, is that Manuel Lanzini, Dimitri Payet and Victor Moses have looked extra sharp in recent weeks.
The say never change a winning team – never fix a formula that isn’t broken – and that’s the selection decision facing West Ham boss Bilic right now.
The fact the official club Twitter account has emphasised Antonio pushing for a start suggests everyone is willing the winger on ahead of the Norwich City clash. But he’ll have to work hard to earn that place.
Then again, this training contribution is a sign he is in the right frame of mind. The advantage of giving the 25-year-old his first start against the Canaries, of course, is the lift it would give Upton Park to see yet another exciting new player.
Should Bilic start him or keep him on the bench?
