Earlier today, Leeds duo Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson were involved as the United States suffered a 2-0 defeat to Japan.
In the grand scheme of things, neither will be too concerned – presumably – given the fact it was only a friendly.
However, things almost became a lot more serious for Aaronson.
Leeds fortunate to see Brenden Aaronson unscathed
If Jesse Marsch was watching his country’s defeat to Japan, his heart probably skipped a beat when he saw Junya Ito lunge into a dreadful challenge on Aaronson.
The Japan international stuck his studs into the right calf of the Leeds No.7 during today’s friendly, and even leapt into the tackle so both feet were off the ground.
It was a truly disgusting act from Ito, who seemingly had no intention to win the ball whatsoever.
You can see footage of the incident below.
Fortunately for Leeds and Marsch, the £40,134-a-week man was able to continue, and managed to play the full 90 minutes.
That will be a huge relief for the Whites, as Aaronson has become a vital player since his £25m move from RB Salzburg.
The 21-year-old has started all six Premier League games so far this season, scoring one goal while also providing one assist.
Leeds & Brenden Aaronson nearly faced devastation
Had Ito’s tackle ruled Aaronson out of the World Cup, it would’ve been hard for him and Leeds to take.
For the Leeds No.7 himself, it is set to be his first taste of World Cup action, and he surely can’t wait to show the planet what he can do in Qatar as his stock rises.

In regards to Leeds, if Aaronson does well at the tournament, his stock will rise even higher, and the club’s £25m investment could even see his value double in the space of six weeks.
Hopefully, nothing happens to the USA international between now and November, with the World Cup just a matter of weeks away.
