Watch as Ferran Torres scored a wonderful volley after coming off the bench for Barcelona on Wednesday night against Viktoria Plzen – amid reports Arsenal tabled an offer of £25.75million to sign the ex-Manchester City attacker.
Torres, 22, joined Barcelona in January 2022 for a fee believed to be in the region of £50million. He started in superb form, but this season, he has been made to wait for his opportunities. Barca have signed Robert Lewandowski.
Out wide, they have kept Ousmane Dembele, still have Ansu Fati and have signed Raphinha. Enormous competition, despite the club’s perilous financial situation. It has limited Torres to just one start, and three sub appearances so far.
Against Plzen, he came off the bench for the last 30 minutes. Barcelona won 5-1 and Lewandowski took the plaudits, scoring a sublime hat-trick. But Torres scored arguably the pick of the goals, volleying an Dembele chip into the net.

A gorgeous goal. Lewandowski’s goals were all about being a no.9, link-up play, movement. This one was utter technique. To remain calm as the ball hung in the air, before turning and volleying in one swift motion.
It is easy to get underneath the ball, and therefore blaze it over the bar in that situation. But Torres does do well to keep his body over the ball and keep it down. If Mikel Arteta and Arsenal were watching, they will be impressed.
The Gunners need an attacker that can offer cover up front for Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah – but also one that can operate from the flanks. Torres fits the bill. If he continues to sit on the bench, he might contemplate a move soon.
