Sunderland fans will be pleased to see one of their young players showing good form on international duty this week.
The player in question is Swedish talent Joel Asoro. The 17-year-old has scored his first goal for the Swedish under-21s today. He netted the third goal in a 3-0 win against Estonia in a qualifying match earlier today – finishing the scoring after Norkopping defender Filip Dagerstal and AZ striker Muamer Tankovic had already given the young Swedes a 2-0 win.
Asoro, as seen in this footage from TV4Sport in Sweden, scored with a back-post volley to secure the win for Sweden:
The teenager has been catching the eye at Sunderland for some time now. His performances in pre-season saw him heavily praised and the skilful winger has even made his debut for the Sunderland first team this season.
This goal will no doubt give him some more confidence that he has the potential to be a star at Sunderland and with his international outfit.
