Roman Dixon scores wondergoal for Everton Under-18 side

Well, the Goodison Park faithful became accustomed to seeing Seamus Coleman surge down the right flank during his prime, where he would often score or assist a goal.

Now, Dixon looks capable of following in the Republic of Ireland international’s footsteps.

The 17-year-old won Everton’s Under-18 side all three points against Manchester City Under-18s on Saturday with a marauding run down the right, which ended with him slotting in a powerful strike to secure a 1-0 win.

You can see footage of the precocious teenager in action below.

As you can see, Dixon remarkably picks up the ball inside his own half before surging forward, beating as many as four Manchester City starlets before rifling beyond 16-year-old True Grant.

In truth, the speed at which he gets into the opposition box – let alone the finish – is very impressive.

It was Dixon’s first goal involvement of the Premier League U18 campaign, and helped the Everton youngsters record a win following three successive defeats.

If Dixon continues to attack relentlessly like he did against the Citizens, it surely won’t be long until Frank Lampard gives him a first-team debut.

The teenager has already been trusted to make two appearances for the Everton Under-21 side, so those at Goodison Park are clearly aware of his talent.

Now, with Nathan Patterson facing five weeks out due to an ankle injury, Dixon could be given a chance if anything happens to Coleman as well.

Whatever happens, it seems Lampard already has an ideal replacement for the 33-year-old Irishman when he eventually decides to hang up his boots.
