Victor Wembanyama’s rough night did not end when the final buzzer sounded at Madison Square Garden.

After the Spurs’ historic collapse, the young star was met with another ugly moment outside the team hotel.

Videos and reports showed Knicks fans throwing eggs and other objects toward Wembanyama as he arrived, with security quickly stepping in to get him inside before things escalated.

Wembanyama looked frustrated as he got off the Spurs’ bus, with fans waiting outside following New York’s 107-106 Game 4 win.

He ducked near the entrance as something was thrown his way, and multiple reports described eggs and other items being tossed in his direction. Most sources say he was nearly hit rather than actually struck.

Either way, it was a bitter end to what was already one of the toughest nights of his young career.

Security concerns grow around Knicks fans

This was not the first incident involving Knicks fans during the Finals. Two supporters received lifetime bans after storming the court in Game 1, and 26 people were detained following the Game 2 watch party at MSG.

Game 3 at Bryant Park saw 21 more taken into custody, with five officers injured amid fights and objects thrown at police.

Security had already been tightened around MSG due to Donald Trump’s appearance at Game 3, and increased measures remained in place for Game 4.

The hotel incident added to what was already a difficult night for Wembanyama, who missed key free throws down the stretch and finished 4-for-7 from the line.

He still posted 24 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocks, and is averaging 27.8 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks through four Finals games. But the noise around his mistakes is only growing louder.

The Spurs gave up a 29-point lead, the largest comeback in NBA Finals history, and now trail 3-1 after OG Anunoby’s game-winning tip-in.

Wembanyama is still the future of the franchise. But after Game 4, he is also the face of a collapse and a target for a fanbase that has already crossed the line more than once.
