Tottenham suffered defeats in the Champions League and Premier League.

Victor Wanyama has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur have been forced to learn a lesson after a disappointing week both domestically and in Europe, the Daily Mirror reports.

Defeat to Monaco on Tuesday ended any hopes Mauricio Pochettino’s men had of progressing past the group-stages of the Champions League.

And they were also powerless to prevent their unbeaten Premier League record going up in smoke as they lost 2-1 away at Chelsea to fall seven points adrift of the Blues, who currently sit at the table’s summit.

And Wanyama suggested that they need to become more ruthless if they hope to bounce back immediately.

“We’ve had a bad week so we must go back to the drawing board and come back stronger,” he said, as reported by the Mirror.

“Europe was disappointing as well, we’ve had a very bad week and hopefully we can turn it around. We were unbeaten and we were determined not to lose that record but we have learned a lesson. We need to be clinical and score more.”

Pochettino may perhaps be hoping that the players begin to feel less pressure now that they do not have the Champions League to concentrate on and do not have an unbeaten record to protect.

That release of pressure may arguably have a positive impact on the squad as they may find it easier to play their natural game which should give them a better chance of putting their poor recent run completely behind them.
