Tottenham Hotspur midfielder hopes to be back soon.

Tottenham Hotspur got back on track in the Premier League yesterday with a 5-1 win against Stoke City.

Missing once again was injured midfielder Victor Wanyama, but the 26-year-old promises it is not long before he returns.

Wanyama was the subject of a rally in his hometown Nairobi, where fans of the player marched together to wish him well in his recovery from a knee injury.

Wanyama did not miss the show of support, and send a message to those responsible, pledging he is not far from returning.

Wanyama has not played since August, and his recovery from injury has dragged on far longer than first anticipated.

Football London reported last week that Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino hopes to have Wanyama back available for the festive fixtures.

Getting the tough tackling star back would be a huge boost for Spurs at a vital time of year as they look to climb back up the Premier League table.
