Tottenham midfielder excited for Southampton return.
Tottenham Hotspur face Southampton later today hoping to record a third successive league win.
The game is particularly special for midfielder Victor Wanyama as it marks the first time he plays at St Mary’s since he left the Saints to join Tottenham in the summer.
Tottenham’s Victor Wanyama scores
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino left Southampton in 2014 for the North London side, and made the decision this past summer to move for Wanyama.
The Kenyan has been an early success at White Hart Lane, easily the best of their summer signings so far.
Yesterday Wanyama sent a message on Twitter expressing his excitement at heading back to the south coast.
Wanyama played more than 90 games for Southampton after signing from Celtic in 2013, but the Saints have not been negatively impacted by his departure.
New manager Claude Puel has ensured Southampton are battling in the top half of the table once again and they are currently nine points behind fifth placed Spurs.
