Tottenham Hotspur defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama has revealed to The Daily Mail that he lost weight after he arrived from Southampton.

Wanyama joined Tottenham from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £11 million.

The 26-year-old defensive midfielder has established himself as a key figure in Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs team.

Although the Kenya international has had injury issues this season, his importance to the North London outfit cannot be undermined.

Former Celtic defensive midfielder Wanyama has revealed that he lost weight after joining Tottenham from Southampton.

The Kenyan has also said Tottenham assistant manager Jesus Perez is tough on the players and makes them work hard.

Wanyama wrote in The Daily Mail: “It’s tough at Tottenham, Jesus Perez, the manager’s assistant is mad.

“He knows everything about all of us, he works you hard with different ideas and it’s very fruitful.

“I lost 7kg when I arrived at Tottenham from Southampton. He made me fitter. Every day now I feel stronger.”

Tottenham are one of the biggest clubs in England, and on the pitch, they have progressed well over the past three or four years.

Spurs may be out of the running for the Premier League title race this season, but they are very much in the running for a top-four finish.
