Tottenham Hotspur have signed a truly brilliant midfield enforcer.

When Tottenham Hotspur finally signed Victor Wanyama from Southampton, manager Mauricio Pochettino knew a secret that was about to be revealed to the White Hart Lane faithful.
The Kenyan international had built a fine reputation at former clubs Celtic and Southampton, but some Spurs fans wondered if Wanyama would be any more than a bit-part player; an additional body who would struggle to usurp last year’s breakout star Eric Dier.

That proved easier said than done, with Wanyama looking every inch a Tottenham superstar in the making after just a few short months in North London.
While Spurs could only draw 0-0 against Bayer Leverkusen in their latest Champions League match, the summer signing was the standout performer, bossing the midfield and ensuring the visitors’ back-line kept a much needed clean sheet.

While headlines are often made by goal-scorers and tricky wingers, Wanyama deserves plenty of his own.
He has been the star of a Tottenham side quietly going about another title challenge and even this early in his Spurs career it is clear why Pochettino was so keen to bring him in.
