Tottenham Hotspur star Victor Wanyama is a former Celtic player.

Tottenham Hotspur defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama has told Celticquicknews.co.uk that going 63 games unbeaten in Scotland is a big statement from Celtic.

Celtic have gone 63 games without defeat in Scotland, setting a new British record in the process.

Wanyama joined Celtic from Beerschot in 2011 and played for the Glasgow giants until 2013 before moving to Southampton.

The Kenya international defensive midfielder joined Tottenham from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £11 million.

The 26-year-old has praised Celtic for going 63 matches without defeat in Scotland.

Wanyama told Celticquicknews.co.uk when asked if he still watches Celtic and what he thinks of their unbeaten run: “Yeah I watch a lot of games when I have a chance especially the Glasgow derbies.

“Brendan Rodgers has done well. Going unbeaten is a very big statement he has taken them to the next level.”

Celtic are head and shoulders above the rest of the teams in Scotland and have some of the best players in the Scottish Premiership.

While some will point out that Brendan Rodgers’s side do not have to face much competition in Scotland, but the fact is that the players still have to remain focused and have to actually play for the entire 90 minutes.
