Victor Wanyama and Harry Kane both got onto the scoresheet as Tottenham Hotspur continued their recent unbeaten run.
Victor Wanyama and Harry Kane have both taken to Twitter in the wake of Tottenham’s enthralling 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday, and their respective comments arguably sum up what a roller-coaster of a game it was at Anfield.
Heading into the final 10 minutes, Liverpool were 1-0 up thanks to Mohamed Salah’s goal just three minutes in as he capitalised on a mistake by Eric Dier to get the Reds off to a lightning start.
However, there would be three more goals, two penalties and plenty of controversy before the final whistle blew. It was Wanyama who got Spurs back on level terms with an absolute stunner.
The Kenyan had not long been on the pitch when he struck a vicious shot from outside the area that threatened to burst the roof of the net and left Loris Karius with no chance of keeping the ball out.
Spurs then had the chance to take the lead when Harry Kane won a penalty. However, Karius saved the effort that the striker put down the middle, and the Tottenham talisman would have to wait a little longer to bring up his century of Premier League goals.
Instead, it was Salah who scored the game’s third goal with a brilliant run at the start of stoppage-time. But anyone who thought that Liverpool had sealed the win was mistaken as Spurs were awarded another penalty.
This time, Kane made no mistake and ensured that the points would be shared. And after the game, Kane took to social media to comment on the fact that he has now scored 100 goals in the top flight, while Wanyama also tweeted, suggesting that while he was pleased to score, he was disappointed that they only secured a point.
