Victor Valdes reportedly wants to sign for Manchester United having trained with the club.
Spanish goalkeeper Victor Valdes wants to sign a contract with Manchester United as soon as possible according to newspaper Marca.
The former Barcelona stopper has been training with Louis van Gaal’s side as he steps up his recovery from a serious injury, and having seen a proposed move to AS Monaco fall through earlier this year, any move to United will reportedly have a big impact for the Ligue 1 side.
Marca claims that not only is Valdes keen to start playing again, but signing a deal with United will finally see him receive compensation from Monaco for his failed move.
The paper claims that as Valdes is said to have been offered €10million-a-season with the French side they will have to pay the difference between that and whatever United offer the player should he sign a permanent deal at Old Trafford.
There is no doubt Valdes could add something to United’s squad but given the presence of David de Gea, the older player’s arrival would surely suggest his younger countryman’s time at the club was nearing an end.
As a result, United fans may actually want Valdes to head elsewhere, with such a move suggesting they were confident of tying De Gea to a new long-term deal.
