After leaving the PGA Tour to join Martin Kaymer’s Cleeks GC, Victor Perez has already earned strong endorsements from his new teammates Adrian Meronk and Richard Bland.

Victor Perez has made one of the standout moves of the year by signing with LIV Golf. The three-time DP World Tour winner joins the breakaway circuit after finishing T19 at the U.S. Open, which helped lift him to 122nd in the Official World Golf Rankings.

His switch came with immediate consequences. Perez was removed from the PGA Tour’s RSM Classic field due to his decision to sign with LIV, but the Frenchman appeared prepared to embrace the new chapter as he linked up with Kaymer’s squad for 2026.

Adrian Meronk welcomes Perez as a “great signing”

Perez joins Cleeks GC alongside Polish star Adrian Meronk, with the pair sharing history dating back to their junior golf days. Meronk, who kicked off 2025 with a win at LIV Golf Riyadh and finished 17th in the individual standings, spoke warmly about his new teammate.

“I think it’s a great signing,” Meronk told Flushing It Golf. “We’ve played a lot of golf together since juniors — he’s a nice guy, steady player, very consistent.” Meronk believes Perez brings exactly what the team lacked last season: reliability. “He will bring more consistency. That’s what we need the most… hopefully we can battle for those top three places every week.”

Cleeks GC struggled in 2025, finishing second from the bottom despite Meronk’s season-opening victory. Perez himself missed seven cuts on the DP World Tour this year, but his teammates appear confident that his ceiling outweighs the dips in form.

Richard Bland confident Cleeks can contend in 2026

Veteran Richard Bland, who has been part of LIV since 2022 and finished 27th in the 2025 standings, also backed Perez to elevate the team’s prospects. Bland had two top-10 finishes this year and believes Perez adds the kind of talent needed to compete with LIV’s strongest lineups.

“Victor’s a great signing. He’s a world-class player,” Bland told Flushing It Golf. “If me and Martin play the way we know we can play, then I think we’re going to be contending for some team titles this year.”

With powerhouse squads like Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII and Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC pushing the pace — and LIV moving to a 72-hole format — the climb won’t be easy. Still, Cleeks GC see Perez as a key step toward moving out of the bottom tier in 2026.
