Leeds United’s transfer guru is targeting quality over quantity.
Victor Orta has hinted to LUTV that there won’t be a lot of players coming through the door at Leeds United this summer.
Leeds’ summer business is well underway after a triple deal for Jack Harrison, Ben White and Liam McCarron was announced today.
The Telegraph claimed at the weekend that Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Helder Costa is also set to join the Whites on loan this week, having said his goodbyes at Molineux.
United owner Andrea Radrizzani has previously claimed that he anticipates a ‘difficult’ transfer window, which was interpreted to mean that there wouldn’t be a rake of marquee signings turning up at Thorp Arch.
And Orta, the club’s Director of Football, has reiterated that, revealing that quality is being prioritised over quantity.
He told LUTV: “There are now tough regulations in Financial Fair Play. We need to be creative in the financial situation. We need to build a squad with principle targets, with the idea that quality is better than quantity in this transfer market.”
It isn’t detrimental for Leeds that they won’t be signing a lot of new players. After all, they weren’t a million miles from Premier League promotion last year, but a lack of depth in the squad undeniably hindered Marcelo Bielsa’s side and if the right players are signed, Orta could right those wrongs.
