Luke Ayling joined Leeds United from Bristol City in the summer of 2016.
Ayling, who can operate as a defender or as a defensive midfielder, has signed a new four-contract with Leeds.
The former Arsenal prospect has established himself as a key figure for the West Yorkshire outfit and has been playing well this season.
The 26-year-old has been on the books of the Whites since the summer of 2016 when he joined from Bristol City for a transfer fee reported by The Express to be worth £750,000.
Leeds Director of Football Orta has suggested that Ayling is good enough to play in the Premier League.
“Luke has impressed on the pitch but also off the pitch too,” Orta told Leeds’s official website. “He is a leader and a very good person as well, I believe that if he continues to improve the way he has in the past 18 months, then he will be a top flight footballer and I am confident we can go on that journey together.”
Ayling is a very consistent and reliable footballer, and his versatility to play as a defender or as a defensive midfielder has made him a very important player for Leeds.
The Whites have struggled for results and good performances in recent matches, but Thomas Christiansen’s side do have enough quality to get back to winning ways this weekend.
