According to The Sun, Leeds United Director of Football Victor Orta is keen on signing Conor Gallagher from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that Leeds, who will play in the Premier League this season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship, ‘are pushing’ to secure the services of the 20-year-old on a loan deal.

Crystal Palace are also interested in the England Under-21 international, but the Eagles want to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi on loan as well, and that is not possible due to the Premier League rules on signing two players on temporary deals from the same club, according to the report in the British tabloid.

Good signing for Leeds United?

Described on Chelsea’s official website as ‘a team player with a great attitude’, Gallagher spent the first half of last season on loan at Charlton Athletic and the second half on loan at Swansea City.

The midfielder did well for both the Addicks and the Swans, and Orta would have seen him closely, with Leeds also playing in the Championship last season.

Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa is known for developing young players, and Gallagher is a midfielder who could get better and add more facets to his game under the Argentine.
