Leeds United have snapped up Ouasim Bouy on a free transfer.
Leeds United Director of Football Victor Orta has told the club’s official website that he is ‘really pleased’ to have tied up a deal for Ouasim Bouy this afternoon.
The Whites have been busy in the transfer market this summer, as Felix Wiedwald, Vurnon Anita, Matthew Pennington, Madger Gomes, Mateusz Klich, Samu Saiz, Ezgjan Alioski and Caleb Ekuban have all arrived.
After also seeing Pontus Jansson and Hadi Sacko secure permanent deals, Leeds are now taking a different approach to the transfer window – and it involves Spanish club Cultural Leonesa.
Leeds appear to have struck an arrangement with the Segunda Division club, thanks to director Ivan Bravo, where players will head from Elland Road to Leon for playing time.
The first confirmed deal of that ilk went through today, as free agent Ouasim Bouy has penned a four-year contract at Elland Road, but he has been immediately loaned out to Cultural Leonesa for the next year.
Bouy, 24, was one of the Europe’s top young players during his time with Ajax, but he has fallen by the wayside due to a combination of limited playing time at Juventus, a host of loan deals and also injuries.
The Dutchman has converted from a holding midfielder to a centre back in recent years, and he will be looking to get his career back on track this season during his time with Cultural Leonesa.
After Leeds announced the deal, Director of Football Victor Orta told the club’s official website that he is ‘really pleased’ to sign Bouy, and also hinted that he will have a long-term future at Elland Road but just needs playing time in Spain this season, after some had wondered whether he would just be signed and shipped out to Cultural Leonesa for a profit.
“We are really pleased to bring a talented player like Ouasim to Leeds United, especially given the fact we could get him here as a free agent following his departure from Juventus and we are confident that he can have a good future at Elland Road,” said Orta.
“The player comes to us needing some first team football to reach the level he will need to be at to compete for a place in our team and therefore a one year loan move to Cultural can benefit all parties,” he added.
